Mirta Pérez Rey is an Argentine writer specializing in cultural, historical, and social narrative. Her works explore themes such as immigration, traditions, dance, and the history of the arts, generating a deep emotional connection with readers. Her literary career includes De morriñas y muiñeiras (Cultural Patronage of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, 2017), a novel that portrays Spanish immigration through its customs and music, and Encaje de dos orillas (Lace of Two Shores) (Ediciones B / Penguin Random House, 2017), an expanded reissue of the previous one. She also published El secreto de Sibila (The Secret of Sibila) (Ediciones B / Penguin Random House, 2018), which traces the history of the Teatro Colón from its construction to its remodeling, and El llanto de las tipas (The Cry of the Tipas) (Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial Argentina, 2021), a narrative celebration of Spanish dance. He participated in the anthologies Ay, pasión and Ay, pecados (PRH) with the stories "Ojos azul Van Gogh" and "La flor de la canela" (The Cinnamon Flower), respectively, and his story "Cuando la memoria se vuelve novela" (When Memory Becomes a Novel) was included in Memoria de la emigración española (Memory of Spanish Emigration, UNED, Spain). His story "Boedo" it was selected for the tribute volume for the 40th anniversary of the Cultural Program in Neighborhoods (Ministry of Culture of the GCBA), and “Su deseo” was chosen to open the XIV International Congress of Palliative Care (SECPAL) in Malaga.

 

A certified public accountant from the University of Buenos Aires, she has completed postgraduate studies in strategic planning and healthcare systems administration (UBA, UADE, and ISALUD), and complemented her training with studies in art history (MNBA), Spanish dance (IIDyM), narrative and dramaturgy (with Patricia Suárez, Enrique Papatino, Gabriela Margall, and Mercedes Giufré, among others), ballet history (with Lucía Chilibroste), and music appreciation and opera (with Claudio Mamud and Nicolás Isasi, among others). She served on the culture committee of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA Argentina), where she launched the library and organized artistic and literary events; she coordinates the reading club Entre Prólogos y Epílogos, which promotes community reading with the participation of authors; and she actively participates in spaces linked to the Spanish community in Buenos Aires. She also hosts a column on the radio program Hacedoras, dedicated to prominent women in ballet and opera.
