Martiniano Lanata

BIO
(Buenos Aires, 2002) is a young writer and law student at the University of Buenos Aires who casts his literary gaze across the vast canvas of epic fantasy. Having trained in Marcelo Birmajer’s writing workshop, he approaches the genre not as a form of escapism, but as a profound vehicle for exploring universal themes such as displacement, friendship, destiny, politics, and duty. With his debut work, *Silencioso llegó el invierno* (currently unpublished), he embarks on an ambitious narrative project that promises to immerse the reader in a world of ancient secrets, sweeping landscapes, suspense, and action—marking the emergence of a fresh voice in Argentine fantasy literature.
Although his public career is still in its early stages, Lanata d’Arruda represents a new generation of authors who—drawing upon both the precision honed in writing workshops and academic rigor—choose to push beyond the boundaries of reality, using imagination and epic storytelling to interrogate the great human questions.

Silencioso llegó el invierno
(Silent came the winter)
In Buenos Aires’ Villa Crespo neighborhood, Jason and Damián have spent years on the run, fleeing a threat they barely understand under the protection of a man they scarcely trust. When monstrous creatures attack their home, Serafín helps them escape through a portal hidden in the Museum of Natural Sciences, leading them to another world.
In the small Kingdom of Dür, the brothers discover that their dead parents were its rulers and that they are the rightful heirs to the throne. But before they can claim their birthright, an army led by the Lord of Ice invades the capital, threatening to destroy the kingdom and everything their parents once ruled. Joined by Sabine and Aerin the White, their weapons master, Jason and Damián embark on a dangerous quest to confront the enemy and save Dür from conquest.
Their journey leads them to a sunless wasteland, where they find the Lord of Ice already dead, his decaying body still wielding a terrifying power. Jason defeats him, but the ease of their victory reveals a greater danger: the Lord of Ice was merely a puppet controlled by a mysterious and far more powerful force. As monstrous hordes threaten to escape his ruined domain, Aerin sacrifices himself to hold them back, allowing the brothers to return to Dür.
The brothers arrive as the kingdom fights to reclaim its capital. Their forces prevail, and Dür celebrates the coronation of its new kings. Yet victory offers little reassurance. That night, a forgotten warning returns to haunt Jason: The enemy is not who you think it is.
