Diario de una seducida
(Diary of a seduced woman)

“We live in a diverse yet insular world, where opinions and customs accepted in some places and eras are forbidden in others. Many things, once considered crimes, have since emerged from the shadows and no longer shock anyone—yet the act of killing one’s own child remains something that cannot even be spoken of.” So begins *Diary of a Seduced Woman* (*Diario de una seducida*), a novel that offers a profound psychological analysis by peering into the intimate life of its protagonist, Sonia—a woman who drowned her five-year-old son on a beach to take revenge on her homosexual husband. Yet, after fleeing to a distant city to start over with a new identity, she is no longer so certain about the reasons behind her crime. Not only do memories of her husband, Alonso, and her son, Esteban, haunt her at every turn, but she is also tormented by the conviction that a mother’s duty is always to protect her children.

In *Diary of a Seduced Woman*, the author explores human reactions to adversity, loneliness, and defeat. Within Sonia’s consciousness, various voices converge, and the past and present coalesce, allowing the reader to gradually grasp the feelings, thoughts, and passions of the protagonist. The novel also serves as a portrait of our current era—marked by individualism, isolation, and violence—while offering a challenging perspective on the role of women in society as daughters, lovers, and mothers.
